December 2011 - THIS week's PICTURE
Pancake Breakfast with the Armellini 3: Joiner photograph by Malcolm Aslett
This is version X of the same series but for the sake of convenience I'll say it is version 3. This comes after the relative unity of the first joiner and the insistent rectangularity of the second (did I just invent a word there? Probably not, now they have that damn Urban dictonary online where I swear they just go through every conceivable arrangement of all the letters in the alphabet). This time I started with a formal design - a circle divided into six. I've never been much of a colourist and so my instincts aren't great when deciding which ones to work with. I am usually democratic and choose one that exists locally in the broken photo. So the wood is next to a mustard colour, the trees segue to green, the wall goes through transitions of blue and violet. This was a good exercise for me. It is a reminder of that fact I am in charge of the parts, to do with as I see fit. One things was constant - the bright fruit bowl. Now we have the square, circle, rectangle business a shade more organized. Organization is good. Right? The previous versions of the image are shown below. |
